National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities or NIEPMD is established by Government of India under the aegis of Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment at Chennai for providing various services to persons with multiple disabilities.www.socialjustice.nic.in. It runs HRD programs to groom rehabilitation professionals. The institute provides services such as Physiotherapy, Speech therapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychological Intervention, Vocational Training, Special Education etc... The institute is the first of its kind in the Asia dedicated exclusively for persons with multiple disabilities. www.niepmd.tn.nic.in
