Nastaran Akhavan (in Persian: نسترن اخوان December 5, 1961, Tehran, is an Iranian non-fiction writer. Being one of the survivor of Iranian Black Friday, she wrote the true story of the day and afterwards in her view as a 17 years old Iranian school girl in a book Spared. She left the country in 1978, first resided in England and obtained her high school diploma. In 1979 she migrated to the United States.

Spared

The book Spared is a true story of the deadly demonstration that took place on 9/8/1978 in Iran, Tehran, later known as Black Friday. The book explains how she miraculously survived and describes the general aspects of a teenager's life in Iran just before the revolution.
