The episodes from the twentieth season of the anime series Naruto: Shippuden are based on Part II of the setting of Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. The season focuses on Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi attempting to defeat Kaguya Ōtsutsuki and Zetsu, the ones behind the activation of the Infinite Tsukuyomi. There is also a side story revolving around Itachi Uchiha's life in the Leaf Village and his early days in the Akatsuki. The episodes are directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo.
The twentieth season began airing on May 28, 2015 on TV Tokyo and ended on October 13, 2016. The season's collection in DVD started on February 3, 2016 under the title of Infinite Tsukuyomi: The Invocation (無限月読・発動の章, Mugen Tsukiyomi: Hatsudō no Shō).
This season contains six musical themes: two openings and four endings. The first opening theme, "Kaze" (風, "Wind") by Yamazaru, is used from episodes 414 to 431. The second opening theme, "LINE" by Sukima Switch, is used from episode 432 to 458. The third opening theme, "Blood Circulator" by Asian Kung-Fu Generation, is used from episodes 459 to 479. The first ending theme, "Kotoba no Iranai Yakusoku" (言葉のいらない約束, "A Promise That Needs No Words") by sana, is used from episodes 414 to 417. The second ending theme, "Niji no Sora" (虹の空, "Rainbow's Sky") by FLOW, is used from episodes 418 to 431. The third ending theme, "Troublemaker" (トラブルメイカー, Toraburumeikā) by KANIKAPILA, is used from episodes 432 to 443. The fourth ending theme, "Like You, Like Me" (そんな君、こんな僕, Sonna Kimi, Konna Boku) by Thinking Dogs, is used from episodes 444 to 454. The fifth ending theme, "Blue Lullaby" (青のララバイ, Ao no Rarabai) by Kuroneko Chelsea, is used from episodes 455 to 466. The sixth ending theme, "Pino and Amélie" (ピノとアメリ,, Pino to Ameri) by Huwie Ishizaki, is used from episodes 467 to 479.
