Nainar Nagendran is an Indian politician of the Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP) party. He was elected as Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Tirunelveli constituency in the 2001 and 2011 state assembly elections. He contested the seat again in 2016 and lost by 602 votes to A. L. S. Lakshmanan of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), a person he had beaten in 2011 by over 38,000 votes.

Nagendran served as a minister for transport during AIADMK rule from 2001-2006. and has also been Minister for Industry.

He joined in BJP with Amit Shah's presence at Delhi on 26 the August 2017.
