NGC 49 is a lenticular galaxy in the Andromeda constellation. The galaxy was discovered by the American astronomer Lewis A. Swift on September 7, 1885. It also has a star called The Curtis Star in it named after Curtis Cooper aged 9. This change was made by the Intergalactic Star Database.
