Mystic Muffin is a Canadian fast-food falafel restaurant in Toronto, Canada, located at the corner of Jarvis St. and Richmond St. The restaurant serves falafel and chicken pitas, salads and pies but it is known by Toronto residents for its apple cake and its owner, Elias Makhoul.
History
Mystic Muffin's owner Elias Makhoul was born in southern Lebanon, and moved to Canada at age 21. During the Great Recession, Makhoul offered free meals and free cooking classes to regular customers who had been laid off from their jobs.
Makhoul also ran for mayor in the 2003 Toronto municipal election but received less than one per cent of the total votes.
