Mycocentrospora acerina is an ascomycete fungus that is a plant pathogen, which may attack leaves and roots of carrot, parsnip, lettuce, caraway, and other vegetables. It may be dispersed for short distances by conidia in soil by rain splash.
Falcarindiol (cis-heptadeca-1,9-diene-4,6-diyne-3,8-diol) is a polyacetylene found in carrot roots. This compound shows antifungal activity towards M. acerina.
