Digital musical instruments that are made in the form of Prosthesis are called Musical Prostheses. A group of researchers from McGill University Canada designed several digital musical instruments in the form of moving parts of the body like the Rib and spine.

These prostheses like digital musical instruments would attach to the performers' bodies and would be used in the live performance of the dance and music. This system uses a computer to synthesise sound.

The custom-designed, 3D-printed prosthetic pieces by the researchers Joseph Malloch and Ian Hattwick under the supervision of Marcelo M. Wanderley play music as the wearer dances.
