Munawwar Hasan (15 May 1964 – 10 December 2008) was an Indian politician for the Muzaffarnagar constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He was killed in a road accident near Palwal in Haryana. The accident occurred at about 1.15 am when Hasan was travelling from Mathura to Delhi in a Scorpio vehicle, which collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction near Banchari village on National Highway 2. Forty-four-year-old Hasan was brought dead to the Apollo Hospital at 3 am. The lawmaker, who was elected on a Samajwadi Party ticket from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh in 2004, had defected to the Bahujan Samaj Party at the time of 22 July trust vote.
