Muddy Waters was an American blues artist widely considered to be one of the most important figures in post–World War II Chicago blues. As with most postwar blues musicians, his recordings were released as two-song singles until the 1960s, when his record company began focusing on long-playing albums. As a result, his most celebrated recordings from early in his career are issued on various collections and anthologies, often with significant overlap and duplication. Included here are the singles and albums released during Waters's lifetime and the more notable and current live and compilation albums.
