Chief Evangelist, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (2010-2016) Founder, Snowflake Mobile (2009-2011)

Mudasser Zaheer (MAZ) is the chief evangelist at Hewlett Packard Enterprise for the HPE Helion portfolio of cloud and other emerging technologies. He is best known in the software development community for advocating standard roles, responsibilities and qualifications for technical evangelists.

Mudasser's beliefs that true technical evangelism must be grassroots, conceptual and completely product agnostic is in sharp contrast to the principles of technical marketing. In 2015 Mudasser started applying his ideas on developer evangelism internally at what was then Hewlett Packard. His efforts grew into a grassroots program to modernize the company's developer community of 55,000 to be proficient in cloud native development. This is believed to be the largest program of its kind in the world and repeatedly told in a TED like talk called "Bringing Cloud Foundry to the masses". The program was also turned into a six-part blog series and published by the Grounded in the Cloud community.

During an interview with Timothy Clayton in 2016, Mudasser was quoted as saying “When we say it is open, that is because everything we do is shared on an open source platform. And our door is always open. We have office hours sessions each week where we invite everyone to ask absolutely any question. At first we were the ones giving the answers but we now find that many of the people we have trained are jumping in and answering the questions of newcomers. Our students are becoming the teachers.” This fundamental requirement for Mudasser's philosophy on technical evangelism that all content be open sourced is also in direct conflict with traditional technical marketing practices.

Mudasser's evangelism activities have impacted several industries including healthcare, financial services, travel & transportation and consumer products. Prior to technical evangelism, Mudasser was known for his work on the original platform agnostic mobile application IDE for iOS and Android. He is also the inventor of a high availability and disaster recovery application performance forecasting model that is based on his work on best practice design patterns for highly available applications.
