Plot

The movie shows the fate of a family medicine professor Boris Nikitich Gradov since the mid-1920s to mid-1950s against the background of the new history of the Soviet state.

Boris Nikitich Gradov - Professor of Medicine, one of the outstanding Soviet surgeons, representative of the dynasty of Russian doctors. The sons and daughter of the surgeon did not continue the family tradition by choosing other professions. The eldest son became a military Nikita, Kirill - theoretician of Marxism, daughter Nina - writer.
