It has an elevation of 7150 feet according to the Nevada Official Highway map, but 7167 according to a road sign physically located at the pass.
Nearby towns are Bishop and Bridgeport, California and Tonopah, Nevada. The nearest city is Carson City, Nevada, about 180 miles to the north.
