Monday Morning is the official weekly e-newsletter of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, an Institute of National Importance in India. It was founded in 2006 by the then final year students - Shrinivas Ron and Chinmoy Mohapatra from the suggestion of the then director of NIT Rourkela, Dr. Sunil Kumar Sarangi. Monday Morning started primarily as a newsletter site that got uploaded with the news cache for the week on every Sunday night, with the issue going live on Monday Morning. News would include departmental news, placement information, word from the director and the chief warden, achievements by NITR students, alumni news, weekly polls, student activities and club information, etc.

The coming batches kept improving it further with addition of newer sections. The summer of 2010 saw a whole new website coming up,one that called associations with "Monday morning blues". Next summer, Monday Morning went for a sleeker, professional news website, and there was an immediate explosion in sections and news volume. Since then, it has been a policy to keep changing the website every summer.

Presently, the site gets up to 5000 peak page impressions per week. Every Monday, the Monday morning team updates the portal with the news for the week in the campus. The weekly information provides the students as well as the outsiders with the happenings inside the campus. It has served as a platform for bringing to light the various issues faced by the students and has been instrumental in compelling the management and authorities in taking prompt actions in theory.
