Moiré Phase Tracking (MPT) is the disruptive 3D tracking technology based on optical moiré patterns. MPT technology is patented by the company Metria Innovation.

MPT technology provides 3D measurements using a single camera using highly engineered specific markers. Each marker provides data for position (X, Y, and Z) and orientation (Pitch, Yaw, and Roll) and has up to 30 times better accuracy than comparable multi-camera systems. Using the MPT system, the single camera can detect and track the unique markers. The camera then will measure the movement using the moiré patterns on the markers.

Metria's MoCap software turns the moiré patterns' motion into position and orientation data. This data can then be used in 3D animation software, ergonomics programs, or any other application that requires 3D motion data.

Current uses include MR-based tracking, where MPT technology has shown to be more accurate that other technologies.
