A modular weapon is a rifle that has core part which can be switched to give the weapon different capabilities. An example is the Beretta ARX160, which can have its caliber and barrel length changed quickly without the use of tools. Modularity provides several advantages to military units, such as reduced acquisition and support costs. It makes weapons tracking more complicated.
