Mirabeau ([miʁabo]) is a rapid transit station on Line 10 of the Paris Métro system. Located in the 16th arrondissement of the city, it is served solely by eastbound trains to Gare d'Austerlitz. Due to its unique track layout, it is one of the more notable stations on the Métro.

Location

Located on the Right Bank of the Seine (despite being geographically west of the Left Bank as a result of the river's curvature), Mirabeau station lies within the 16th arrondissement of Paris, a largely residential and upscale area in the western section of the city. Nearby is the Pont Mirabeau, which crosses the Seine.

History

The station opened on 30 September 1913 as part of the extension of line 8 from Beaugrenelle (now Charles Michels) to Porte d'Auteuil. On 29 July 1937, line 10 was extended from Duroc to La Motte-Picquet - Grenelle and the section of line 8 between La Motte-Picquet - Grenelle and Porte d'Auteuil, including Mirabeau, was transferred to line 10.

Station layout

Like other Métro stations, Mirabeau was built using the cut-and-cover method; as a result, it lies directly underneath rue Mirabeau, which gives the station its name (which in turn is named after Honoré Gabriel Riqueti, comte de Mirabeau, a statesman during the French Revolution). There is only one platform serving eastbound trains; the westbound track rises along a relatively steep ramp in order to stay near the surface, turning to the west of the station in a northerly direction so as to run underneath rue Wilhem on way to Église d'Auteuil station.

Exits

There are two access points at Mirabeau station:

  1.  avenue de Versailles: one stairway at 63 avenue de Versailles (Place de Barcelone)
  2.  rue Mirabeau: one stairway at 3 rue Mirabeau
