The Ministry of Transport of West Bengal is a Bengal government ministry. It is a ministry mainly responsible for the provision of transport facilities and infrastructure on road, inland water and air – within the domain of State Government. It also provides administrative and legal framework for the same. Its activities include issual of licences and permits.

[Transport Department] operates from the State Administrative Buildings, i.e. Writers’ Buildings. The Kolkata RTO office is known as Public Vehicles Department. In addition to that there are RTO offices in each of the districts and are normally located at the District Magistrates office precincts.

Ministerial Team

The ministerial team is headed by the Cabinet Minister for Transport, who may or may not be supported by Minister's of State. Civil servants are assigned to them to manage the ministers' office and ministry.
