The Ministry of Public Works (Spanish: Ministerio de Fomento) is the government ministry in Spain responsible for preparation and implementation of government policy on land transport infrastructure, air and maritime jurisdiction of state and control, management and regulation of administrative services transport, management and direction of all postal and telegraph services, the momentum and direction of state services related to astronomy, geodesy, geophysics and mapping and planning and programming of investments related to the services mentioned above.

Responsibilities

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport is a department of the General Administration responsible for:

  • Preparing and carrying out the Government policy in terrestrial, air and maritime state infrastuctures affairs.
  • Controling, arranging and regulating administrative affairs of transport services.
  • Arranging and managing state services of astronomy, geodesy, geophysics and cartography.
  • Planning and programming the investments related to the named services.

  • Secretary General of Infrastructure. Holds the rank of subsecretary. Directs and coordinates the following governing bodies, dependent on it:

  • General Direction of Spatial Planning and Territorial Coordination. Program and promotes the actions of the Secretary of State of which depends on all matters relating to infrastructure planning.

  • General Direction of Economic Planning.
  • Secretary of State of Transports. Holds the rank of subsecretary. Directs and coordinates the following governing bodies, dependent on it:
