Miles Galin is one of the inventors of the intraocular eye lenses.
Legal Trouble
Dr. Galin pleaded guilty to submitting claims for services he never performed between 1987 and 2000, including retinal surgery, glaucoma treatments, and fluorescein angiograms. Galin's total monetary gain from these fraudulent claims was approximately US$500,000. It is alleged that Galin used other doctor's identification numbers to bill for services after his medical license was revoked in 1997. He faces a maximum of 5 years in prison and a US$250,000 fine for each of the two counts against him.
