Miles Bay (54°4′S 37°39′W) is a small bay in the south side of Ice Fjord, South Georgia. The name "South Bay" was given to this feature by the Scottish geologist David Ferguson during his visit to South Georgia in 1911–12. Since the same name is well established for an arm of Prince Olav Harbour 18 nautical miles (33 km) away, the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee recommended in 1957 that a new name be substituted for the feature now described. Miles Bay is now named after the whale catcher Don Miles, built in 1926, which was owned by the Compañía Argentina de Pesca in 1934.
