Barangay Milagrosa is one of the fourteen (14) urban barangays comprising the municipality of Carmona in the province of Cavite, Philippines. It lies for about 1 kilometer away from the town proper of Carmona, situated in the central part of the municipality. According to the 2010 Census, it has a population of 22,171 people in a land area of 70 hectares (170 acres).

Barangay Profile

Barangay Milagrosa is located on the central part of the municipality of Carmona. Approximately 36 kilometres (22 mi) south of Manila and 38 kilometers from Trece Martires City, Cavite’s Provincial Capital. It is bounded to the north and west by Barangay Mabuhay; by Barangay Lantic to the south and east; and by Barangay Poblacion 3 to the east and northeast.

Milagrosa has a land area of 70 hectares (170 acres) occupied almost 2.3% of the total land area of the municipality of Carmona, which is 3,092 hectares (7,640 acres). Carmona represents 2.17% of the total land area of the province of Cavite.

Topography

The topography of Barangay Milagrosa is generally found on the mountain foot slope. It forms the rolling tufaceous plateau. This topography includes steep hills, ridges and elevated inland valley and the rest are generally flat.

The first slope is ranging of 3-8% are gently sloping areas with land sloping, gently undulating and rolling lands sloping, this area comparises the small portion of the barangay. The middle portion of Barangay Milagrosa is ranging of 8-18% slope that forms the rolling tufaceous plateau.

Climate

Barangay Milagrosa has two pronounced seasons – the dry season, which usually begins in November and ends in April, and the rainy season, which starts in May and ends in October. Barangay Milagrosa is cool periods are from December to February while summer months are from April to May. March, April, May, June, and July are the warmest months with an average temperature of 28.8 °C (83.8 °F). January, February and December are cooler with an average temperature of 25.8 °C (78.4 °F).

History

There are 70 hectares (170 acres) of land southwest of downtown, which is the historical Barrio Milagrosa. This place was formerly part of the vast land of Yaptinchay of Binan, Laguna. The understanding by those living there is that the hacienda was part of Carmona before 1935. The people started to try to return the ownership to the people of Carmona. They built the organization called "Samahang Pagkakataon Na" under the leadership of then Mayor Mapanoo Marciano. There are many things which have occurred to the disappointment of the association. But the people had a strong commitment. In 1938, led by Mayor Mapanoo and G. John Alumia, including also three truck people, they went to the Malacañang Palace to gain the permission of President Quezon. The president and once again proved his awareness of the emerging social justice. After the Second World War, the land was divided and given to the landless. This area is named the "Milagrosa" because the returning of the land to the local people is "Milagro".

    Economic profile

    The economy of Barangay Milagrosa is generally agricultural, industrial & Commercial-Business.

    Cottage industries include metal works, metalcraft, footwear industries, concrete products, tricycle assembly, rattan handicrafts and bakeries. Manufacturing firms engaged in handicraft (bags and shoes), furniture making, business retailing, personal and business services, and food based enterprises contribute to the municipality’s trade and commerce. Mercantile activities in the municipality are concentrated at the Poblacion area and along the Governor’s Drive.
