Mike Brown (born March 4, 1985) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender who plays for the Danbury Whalers of the FHL.

Brown was drafted in the fifth round, 153rd overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. After three seasons with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League, Brown signed his first professional contract, a three-year entry level contract with the Bruins in July 2005. On July 1, 2008, Brown became an unrestricted free agent after the Bruins chose not to offer him a qualifying offer.

Controversies

During the Canberra Knights 4-1 loss to the Sydney Bears on 19 April, Brown was given a 2 minute minor penalty for roughing at the end of the first period. With just 32 seconds before the end of the second, according to the official box score, Brown was then awarded a 25 minute match penalty.

As reported by the AIHL in their statement, Brown was judged to have breached three clauses of the AIHL Code of Conduct. The infringements included General Behaviour, Public Conduct and Public Comment.

Pleading guilty to all charges, Brown has received a 3 game suspension as well as 6 game suspended sentence. This also comes with an automatic 2 game suspension stemming from an undisclosed discretion from the same game.

This will mean that Brown will be missing from the Knights’ lineup until they take on the North Stars in Newcastle on the 30th of June 2012.
