Microdatacenter

A microdatacenter is a self contained data center in a very small enclosure consisting of multiple Microserver modules, at least one Microswitch module and storage modules. Microdatacenters typically employ hot-water cooling to achieve compactness, low component count, low cost and high energy efficiency. Its small size allows decentralized deployment in places where traditional data centers cannot go.

History

This technology was pioneered by the DOME microserver team in Zurich. The first live demo of an 8-way system was performed at Supercomputing 2015 as part of the emerging technologies display
