Michael Barnes, CM (born September 26, 1934) is a Canadian writer who is an authority on the history and folklore of Northern Ontario.
Born in London, England, Barnes came to Canada in 1956. He received a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario in 1964 and an M.Ed. from the University of Toronto in 1971.Hon. Inspector OPP 1991. Presiding Officer Canadian Citizenship Ceremonies 1995.
In 1994 he was made a Member of the Order of Canada.
