During 2008, the Mexico national football team, or el tricolor, played a total of 15 games, from which 8 were official 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification games for Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football.

The Mexican team started its quest for one of the three berths given automatically to CONCACAF by FIFA, the team byes to Second Round and defeated Belize, winner of Group 2A from the First Round. Mexico, top seed of Group 3 of the Third Round, qualified as second place to the Fourth Round, after being defeated by Honduras in the last game played in San Pedro Sula. Honduras qualified as first place.
