Metriorrhynchus

Metriorrynchus is a genus of beetles, a few species of which are also known as the Lycid beetle.

In 2007, due to several discoveries, including a new species, the family tree and nomenclature of Metriorrhynchus were revised. The genus is placed within the clades of the order Coleoptera (beetles) and the family Lycidae, and live in continental Asia and the Sunda Islands.

Currently, there is one recognized species. The species produces a biochemical known as 1me-2-quinolone, which is an allomone that is used by the genus as a defense chemical.
