Mertolenga is a cattle breed from Portugal, one of thirteen registered Portuguese breeds (as of 2003), making up around 19 per cent of cattle in that country.

The breed region is circumscribed almost exclusively to southern Portugal in the Low Alentejo, and Ribatejo rigions.

  • Skeleton – Fine
  • Coat – red roan thousand flowers, red tabby and spotted with red.
  • Mucous – clear or slightly pigmented
  • Profile – straight or sub-convex
