Melanmarainadu is a village situated in state of Tamil Nadu, in the southern part of India. The mother tongue of the residents is Tamil, even though a considerable population speak Telugu.

The reason for name

Some people say that the word came from "Merku All marai nadu" which means west side place where people hide. So in the past this village was entirely covered up by 'veli' (a plant which can be found in countryside and which has lots of thorns)(karuvela maram is different). But now the village is developed. This village has two schools. R.C elementary school and St,Antony's high School where more than 400 children are studying. Both schools are being run by DonBosco Christian missionary. Children from nearby villages are studying here.It has a Library newly opened for the public access, as it helps the growing children to broad their knowledge towards reading many varieties of books.It has One Bus stand, Bus facilities from Sivakasi and Rajapalayam via Tamil Nadu cements Alangulam, even though it is a small village it creates lot of Engineers,Technicians and Doctors. The learned Advocates S.Palaniselvam., B.A., B.L., and P.Muruganantham., ML.,and Intelligence Officer Mr. A.Ashok raja, M.com, are belongs to this village.

Post office facility also is available here as it is very much useful for the people.There is one river nearby the village.Also,this village is very near to "Kalingapatti" which is the native place of Politician M.D.M.K founder Mr.VAIKO.

There is another village nearby called 'Keelanmarainadu'. This village is placed 5 km away from alangulam Cements towards 'Sevlapatti'.
