Consecutive campuses were opened in Greenwood, Indiana, in 2007; Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 2008; and Lexington, Kentucky, in 2009. Also in 2008, Medtech created a separate School of Nursing to meet the increasing economic demand. In 2010, Medtech joined forces with Sanz School and Javelin Technical Training Center under the ownership of JTC Education Holdings. This merger brought the Medtech campus total to 10, adding locations in Atlanta; Morrow, Georgia; Tucker, Georgia; Falls Church, Virginia; Silver Spring, Maryland; and Washington, D.C. In October 2011, Medtech announced the acquisition of Radians College, a nursing school in Washington, D.C. In July, 2012, Medtech announced the acquisition of Camelot Healthcare Training Institute in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Shortly after the acquisition, Camelot was re-branded to Medtech Institute and its location moved to Orlando. In February, 2014, Medtech announced the acquisition of National Medical Education & Training Center (NMETC).

After the financial collapse, many for-profit schools [ Alta College, Inc.'s Westwood College; Corinthian Colleges, Inc.'s Everest College were more scrutinised. In the past three fiscal years the government U.S. Department of Education and Department of Justice ] have barred more than 30 schools from receiving federal loans and grants. Marinello Schools of Beauty, for instance, lost access to federal funds in February for illegally requesting federal financial aid for students with invalid high-school diplomas, charging students for excessive overtime and withholding a portion of students’ federal aid. The for-profit chain shut down within days of the department's decision.
The Justice Department probes have revealed numerous fraudulent activities from for profit career technical schools. In November 2015 the second largest for profit college chain Education Management Corporation [ operated the Art Institutes, Argosy University, Brown Mackie College, South University ] agreed to pay $95.5 million to resolve allegations that it paid employees based on student enrollment in violation of federal law. The rule is meant to prevent schools from steering students into loans to boost revenue. ITT Technical Institute is being sued by the Securities and Exchange Commission for fraud. The University of Phoenix was suspended from receiving military tuition assistance. Career Education Corporation closed all 14 of its Sanford-Brown technical schools.
Tuesday's action against Medtech is the department's latest effort to rein in schools accused of violating regulations on federal financial aid.
