Habitat

The McCann’s skinks preferred habitat is open montane grassland, dry rocky areas, sand dunes and screes.

Conservation status

As of 2012 the Department of Conservation (DOC) classified the McCann’s Skink as Not Threatened under the New Zealand Threat Classification System.
