In Mattarello you can find the interdepartmental research centre CIBIO(Centre for Integrative Biology, part of University of Trento). The Centre will pursue the task of creating a suitable environment for merging classical cellular and molecular biology approaches with the new powerful tools of systems and synthetic biology, and with the contribution of chemistry, physics, informatics, mathematics, and engineering in an integrative view of basic biological processes and of their derangement in disease.

Trento airport is near the town, and there is an aeronautical museum, in the honour of Gianni Caproni, adjacent to the airport: the Museo dell'Aeronautica Gianni Caproni (Gianni Caproni Museum of Aeronautics).

Mattarello is also a Tuscan rolling pin.
