Mathilde Halla first became involved in the anti-nuclear movement in Austria in 1973 when she joined a small activist organization called Citizens Against Atomic Danger, while working as a schoolteacher. For over thirty years, she has coordinated anti-nuclear demonstrations, written numerous newsletters and articles, and organized international symposia. She also published the book Worst Case Scenario Chernobyl. In 2005 Mathilde Halla received the Nuclear Free Future (Lifetime Achievement) Award.
