Massachusetts Avenue is a street-level station on the MBTA Silver Line's Washington Street branch (SL4/SL5), located on Washington St at Massachusetts Avenue near the Boston University Medical Campus. This station is approximately 1⁄2 mile from the Orange Line station of the same name, and is located under the former location of Northampton station on the Washington Street Elevated (the former alignment of the southern half of the Orange Line), which closed in April 1987.

Orange Line use
Formerly, the station operated as Northampton on the Washington Street Elevated, part of the MBTA's Orange Line. It was closed in 1987 when the line was rerouted to the west along the Southwest Corridor. Unlike the majority of the stations on the Washington Street Elevated, however, Northampton station was not scrapped; instead, it was moved to the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, Maine in 1988, and remains there today.
Accessibility
The station is fully accessible (see MBTA accessibility).
