John Marshall Lang CVO (1834–1909) was a Church of Scotland minister and author.

Life

He was born into an eminent ecclesiastical family on 14 May 1834; his father was the Rev. Gavin Lang. He was educated at Glasgow University. He was Minister at Aberdeen, Fyvie, Glasgow and Edinburgh. He was Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland from 1893 to 1894. His third son Cosmo Gordon Lang was Archbishop of Canterbury from 1928 to 1942 and his fifth son Marshall Buchanan Lang was Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland from 1935 to 1936. He died on 2 May 1909.
