Mark White (journalist)

Mark White is a Scottish broadcast journalist, currently working with Sky News.

White began his career with BBC Radio Scotland in 1987 and for two years, worked on coverage of the Lockerbie disaster and the subsequent Fatal Accident Inquiry in Dumfries.

White switched to television in 1991 and joined Border Television to work on the nightly news programme, Lookaround. Whilst at Border, he set up and ran an opt-out local news service for viewers served by the Selkirk transmitter. The service was later expanded to cover all of Southern Scotland.

By November 1992, White had moved north and became a main presenter and reporter for the Grampian Television (now STV North) regional news programme North Tonight. Whilst working on the programme, he covered amongst other stories, the Dunblane massacre and the grounding of a Braer oil tanker on the Shetland Isles.

White resigned from the programme in November 1999 after laughing on-air during a news report and later making light of the incident during a radio interview. Later that month, he joined Sky News, where he is now the channel's Home Affairs Correspondent.
