Adams trains with the quickly growing Team Kaobon training camp. Adams compiled a 10-0-1 record as an amateur before turning professional.

After leaving school, Adams joined the Parachute Regiment where he served for 5 years. After expressing an interest in Mixed Martial Arts, Adams joined the South Coast Submissions MMA Gym. Adams would later join Wolfslair MMA Academy, but would later leave as part of the mass exodus that included Paul Kelly and Martin Stapleton, all of whom joined Team Kaobon.

Adams then joined BAMMA and faced the new featherweight champion Alan Omer for the title. After five rounds, Adams was declared the winner via unanimous decision and became the new BAMMA Featherweight champion.
