Marcia Bunge is a theologian and professor of Lutheran studies at Gustavus Adolphus College. Her research focuses on children and childhood in religion and ethics, and she has "emerged as an authority in this new area of theology of childhood."

Bunge taught at Luther Seminary from 1985 to 1990, Luther College from 1990 to 1995, Gustavus Adolphus College from 1995 to 1997 and again since 2012, and Christ College at Valparaiso University from 1997 to 2012. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1986.

Bunge served on the general advisory board of the Valparaiso University magazine The Cresset, and on the National Task Force for Education for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. From 2003-2008 she co-chaired the “Childhood Studies and Religion Consultation” of the American Academy of Religion. Bunge served on the Society of Biblical Literature's “Children in the Biblical World” section steering committee. She has also written about Christians' responsibility toward the environment.
