María del Carmen Dato y Barrenechea, 3rd Duchess of Dato (6 December 1885 in Madrid – 1954), was a Spanish noblewoman.

Background

She was the second of three daughters of Eduardo Dato e Iradier (A Coruña, 12 August 1856 – assassinated in Madrid, 8 March 1921), three times Spanish Prime Minister (or President of the Minister's Council) and wife María del Carmen de Barrenechea y Montegui, 1st Duchess of Dato (- Madrid, 1926).

Life

She inherited the title after her sister Isabel Dato y Barrenechea, 2nd Duchess of Dato's death.

Marriage and children

She married Eugenio Espinosa de los Monteros y Bermejillo, and had two sons:

  • Eduardo Espinosa de los Monteros y Dato (4th Duke of Dato), married María Dolores Español y Vélez Ladrón de Guevara (Countess of Guevara), and had four sons and two daughters:
  • Eduardo, Jose Luis, Carlos, Maria Teresa, Javier and Paloma

  • Eugenio Espinosa de los Monteros y Dato, married María de la Piedad Rosillo y Martos-O'Neill, and had a daughter:
  • María de la Piedad Espinosa de los Monteros y Rosillo (b. Madrid, 17 June 1953), married at San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Madrid, 22 April 1986 Andreas Salvator, Archduke of Austria, and had issue
