Manuel de Amaya (c.1740-–1800s) was a Spanish nobleman, the administrator general of the Real Renta de Tabaco in Buenos Aires.

Biography

Born in Sevilla, Amaya arrived in the port of Buenos Aires c. 1775 to fulfill governmental functions in the Viceroyalty of Rio de la Plata. His wife was Valentina, a "porteña" daughter of Don Joseph Zenzano, an important member of the government. Amaya was the first holder in the Administración General of Buenos Aires, to which he was appointed in 1778.
