Mansfeld is one of the 299 single member constituencies used for the German parliament, the Bundestag. One of nine districts covering the state of Saxony-Anhalt, it covers the whole of the Mansfeld-Südharz district and the municipalities of Bad Lauchstädt, Merseburg, Mücheln, Querfurt, Salzatal, Teutschenthal, Wettin-Löbejün and Weida-Land, all located in the Saalekreis district.

In its current form, the constituency was created for the 2009 election, when the number of constituencies in Saxony-Anhalt was reduced by one, expanding the existing Mansfelder Land constituency by adding parts of the abolished Bernburg – Bitterfeld – Saalkreis constituency.

Although the Mansfelder Land constituency had been held by the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since the 1998 election, the new constituency was won by Harald Koch of The Left party.
