The Maltese Second Division (also known as the Bank of Valletta Second Division due to sponsorship reasons) is the third-highest division in Maltese football, behind the Maltese First Division and above Maltese Third Division. The league has been running for many years.

It is contested by 14 teams; the top three teams are promoted to the second-highest Maltese division, the Maltese First Division, whilst the three lowest-finishing teams are relegated to the Maltese Third Division. Teams play each other twice.

On January 13, 2011, the Malta Football Association decided to expand the league to 14 teams as from season 2011–12.
