It is located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) south of Trofors in the village of Majavatn, just alongside the large lake Majavatnet. The church is part of the Grane parish in the Indre Helgeland deanery in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The small building was constructed in 1915 as "Majavatn misjonshus" and in 1924 it was consecrated as a chapel. The small wooden building seats about 80 people and holds about 5 scheduled worship services each year, in addition to baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and funerals.
