MLS Cup '97, the second edition of Major League Soccer's championship match, was played between defending champion D.C. United and the Colorado Rapids to decide the champion of the 1997 season. The game was played at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. on October 26, 1997. Playing in their home stadium in a drenching rain storm, D.C. United beat the Rapids 2-1 to claim their second consecutive title. D.C. also became the first MLS champion to win at home.
The crowd of 57,431 was the second-largest soccer audience in the history of RFK Stadium. It is also the first MLS Cup to end in regular time.
D.C. United and the Colorado Rapids earn a berth to the 1998 CONCACAF Champions' Cup.
