Lyons Sign Language is reported to be a sign language of the Lyon region of France. The number of current users is not attested, and it is not even known if it ever existed. If it did, it was apparently not intelligible with nor related to French Sign Language, which developed in Paris.

Classification

Wittmann (1991), commenting on its listing in Ethnologue (11th ed., 1988) but without further information, posits that LSL is a language isolate (in his terms, a 'prototype' sign language).
