Lycus, king of Thebes, is the son of Poseidon and Celaeno. He is the husband of Dirce and the half brother of Eurypylus. He was sent to the Fortunate Isles, the islands of the blessed by his father. He gained custody of Antiope, in which he gave her to Dirce to be treated poorly. In revenge of taking Antiope, Lycus and Dirce were killed by Amphion and Zethus.
