Luxembourg was represented by French singer Anne-Marie B, with the song '"Frère Jacques", at the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 7 May in London. The song was chosen internally by broadcaster RTL.

At Eurovision

On the night of the final Anne-Marie B performed 7th in the running order, following Germany and preceding Portugal. "Frère Jacques" was a song with a contemporary disco-style arrangement, which borrowed lyrical elements from the traditional French children's song of the same name. As with other songs in similar style in the 1977 contest – such as the strongly-fancied entries from Belgium and Germany – "Frère Jacques" fared less well than anticipated in the voting as most of the national juries chose the conventional over the contemporary. At the close it had received only 17 points (8 from Finland, 7 from Spain and 2 from Ireland), placing Luxembourg 16th of the 18 entries. The Luxembourgian jury awarded its 12 points to the United Kingdom.
