Plot
Thanks to the machinations of the Sun family, the Mackenzies have destroyed the Corta empire and killed or scattered its key members. Young Lucasinho and Luna Corta are under the protection of Luna's mother and the Asamoahs, and Robson Corta has been snatched back by his own mother's family, the Mackenzies. Escaping death at the hands of his ex-wife Amanda Sun, Lucas Corta plots revenge.
Reception
Publishers Weekly called the novel "compelling", adding that "Each of McDonald's viewpoint characters is made human in fascinating and occasionally disturbing detail, and the solar system of the 22nd century is wonderfully delineated."
