Mukim Liang's is a "mukim" located in the Belait District of Brunei Darussalam. It is made up of three villages; namely Kg Lumut I, Kg Lumut II and Kg Sg Liang. The Penghulu or the Head of the Mukim is named Tuan Hj Awg Abdul Hamid bin Awg Hj Mumin. The Mukim Liang are divided into three villages and has its own head villages or called "Ketua Kampong" and are looked after by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Mohd Shafiee bin Ahmad for the head of Kg Lumut 1 and Yang Mulia Awang Abd. Rahman bin Hashim is the head of Kg Lumut II. For Kg Sg Liang, the Ketua Kampong is not yet been occupied since the Ketua Kampong had died.

All of the above ketua kampong mentioned will report it to the Penghulu for any unsolved problems or we can say, the Penghulu is the leader for all the Ketua Kampong in Mukim Liang.

Location

Mukim Liang is located approximately 25 km east of the Belait District's administrative capital, Kuala Belait. Brunei's capital, Bandar Seri Begawan is located 100 km east of Lumut. It is located in a flat area near the South China Sea and most of it is still covered with green bushes.

Industry

A number of industrial buildings are located in Lumut, notably the Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas Plant, one of the largest natural gas liquefpark, SPARK (Sungai liang industrial PARK) is located there. A methanol producing plant,

Archaeological finds

A number of archaeological findings were made in Lumut, the most notable of which was the finding of artifacts from the 15th century. Over 9000 artifacts were found, most of which were porcelain from China. The artifacts found were from the Tang Dynasty, Song Dynasty, Yuan Dynasty and Ming Dynasty eras. These are thought to have been used in 500 to 700 burials.

Road

Many years ago, people travelling from Kuala Belait to Bandar Seri Begawan have to go pass Lumut using the road from the Anduki airport to the Brunei LNG. Later, the government constructed the two lane highway from Sg Liang to Seria and travellers do not have to go pass Lumut. Both of these road and highway are interconnected, travellers can go to Lumut from Anduki, through the Army Camp, through the housing scheme and the road near the BLNG.

There is another road / highway being built linking Lumut and Pasir Putih, Telisai via Kg Sg Mao and it is expected to be completed in 2013.

Schools

There are Four primary schools and one secondary school located in Mukim Liang; Sekolah Rendah Lumut (in Kg Lumut I), Sg Tali Primary School and Pg Anak Puteri Pg Hjh Rashidah Secondary School (in Kg Lumut II), Chung Lian Primary school (in Sg Liang) & Sekolah Rendah Sg Liang (in Sg Liang). In the afternoon session, three of the primary schools become religious schools. There is another new school being built near to the BLNG area or near the highway. The building will be used for the Brunei Polytechnic Institution.

Housing schemes

Originally, the people here built their house near to the sea. Later, His Majesty's Government granted several housing schemes for Bruneians in Belait district. Land of about 0.13 acre was given to high income locals. Follow by the housing schemes for average income locals. Last year, another housing scheme was given to the high income locals. There is another housing scheme is currently being built for average income locals.

Mosque

There is two mosque located in Mukim Liang; at the Lumut main road called Masjid Zainab. It was built by a family who live here many years ago. This mosque is equipped with air - conditioners and other necessities for Muslims. The other mosque is named Masjid Sg Liang located in Sg Liang.

Army camp

There is an army camp called the Battalion Ke tiga. It is the only army camp in Belait district.

Recreation area

The main recreation areas are the Anduki lagoon, the Lumut beach and the LLRC; Lumut Liang Recreation Club.

Others important informations

There are many shops, few restaurants and a fuel station along the main road.
