About Local Heroes
Local Heroes, Inc prepares and sends care packages to local servicemen and women stationed overseas while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Packages include necessities like toothbrushes and razors, as well as relative luxuries, such as candy and coffee. Their goal is to send a care package to each one of the "Local Heroes" during the next year to demonstrate appreciation for their service.
Accomplishments
Since the group's inception in 2004, they have sent out more than 15,000 care packages to local soldiers overseas.
Events
Local Heroes, Inc hosts several events throughout the year to raise awareness of their cause as well as raise money for the preparation and sending of care packages. In the past they have hosted both golf tournaments and poker runs as fundraising efforts.
Got Books?
Local Heroes, Inc raises money through fundraising partner Got Books?, a local organization which collects and sells used books from the community, as well as raises money for local nonprofit groups. Local Heroes, Inc is one of the Got Books Charity Book Sale fundraising partners, which allows them to receive a portion of the profits brought in at the book sale. With money raised with Got Books?, Local Heroes, Inc has been able to purchase supplies and ship many care packages overseas.
